About the Conference
Africa faces unprecedented mental health challenges, with trauma affecting millions across the continent due to conflict, displacement, poverty, and historical injustices. Yet access to evidence-based trauma treatment remains limited. This inaugural EMDR Africa Conference marks a pivotal moment in advancing trauma-informed care across our diverse continent.EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has proven effective worldwide in treating PTSD, trauma, and related conditions. However, successful implementation requires cultural adaptation and community-centered approaches that honor African healing traditions while embracing scientific innovation.Join us for two transformative days as we build a network of African EMDR practitioners, researchers, and advocates committed to making trauma healing accessible to all our communities.
